THREE COUNTERFEITERS OF DRIVER’S LICENSES AND SECURITY GUARD’S LICENSES FALL
Operatives of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) arrested on Tuesday, three persons suspected of producing counterfeit driver’s licenses, security guard’s licenses and identification cards of various government agencies, during police operations in Cagayan de Oro City.
In his report to POLICE SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT MARNI C MARCOS JR, Director, ACG, Police Chief Inspector Ignacio Gamba, Chief, Regional Anti-Cybercrime Office in Northern Mindanao (RACO 10), identified the suspects as Ramonito Lopez, Israel Fuentes and Sallahudin Maunante Sumpingan, all of Barangay 3, Cagayan de Oro City.
According to PCI Gamba, the operation was launched after police received several complaints from the public that a group of counterfeiters led by Sallahudin were producing fake LTO driver’s licenses, security guard’s licenses and identification cards of various government agencies, from two commercial stalls located at T Chavez St, Barangay 3, CDO. The security guard’s licenses are exclusively issued by the PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA).
PCI Gamba said that after a series of surveillance operations, Sallahudin was arrested by operatives of RACO 10 during an entrapment operation at the stall where he was conducting his nefarious activity. Fuentes and Lopez, on the other hand, were arrested inside their stall after police implemented the search warrant issued by Hon Dennis Alcantara, Presiding Judge, Branch 18 Regional Trial Court, Cagayan de Oro City.
Seized from the stalls of the suspects were six (6) desktop computers, printers and assorted falsified documents, IDs and licenses.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code pursuant to Section 6 of RA 10175 otherwise known as the “Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.”
“I would like to serve notice to all criminals that indeed crime does not pay especially if and when you contend with the tireless and hardworking operatives of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group,’’ PSSUPT Marcos said.
