“73 CHINESE NABBED FOR TELECOM FRAUD TO BE DEPORTED”

Seventy-three (73) Chinese nationals arrested for telecommunication fraud and violation of Philippine immigration laws are set to be sent back to Mainland China today, February 26, 2018, after having been declared by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as undesirable aliens.

Said Chinese nationals, along with other 78 Taiwanese nationals, were nabbed during the simultaneous operations conducted by joint teams from BI and PNP-ACG in Sitio Nagtupacan and Deomar Hometel, Ilocos Sur and Las Piñas, Metro Manila – where the suspects were reportedly manning and operating their respective workstations – on January 13, 2018 after police found that the IP Addresses linked to the series of telecommunication fraud in China were located in the Philippines.

Reports and investigation disclosed that the telecom fraud in which the foreign suspects were involved has been preying on unsuspecting, wealthy victims from different provinces in Mainland China for several years by pretending to be law enforcers, sending fake Warrants of Arrest, and directing the victims to transfer money to a safe account and thereby reaping millions of dollars from its victims.

Meanwhile, PCSUPT MARNI C MARCOS JR, the Director of the PNP ACG, said that the operation is an excellent example of collaboration between the PNP-ACG and the BI.  For more than a month, the PNP-ACG held physical custody of the arrested persons for and in behalf of the BI, while the latter was conducting deportation proceedings.
