Baguio City – Two (2) Top 1 Most Wanted Persons (MWPS) of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit Cordillera (RACU COR) who allegedly offered to lease a condominium located in Taguig City were arrested by the Cordilleran Cops in 2 separate operations.
Leny Sierda, a 37-year-old female suspect was arrested by the Cordilleran Cyber Cops in the afternoon of January 23, 2023, at about 4:30 PM in San Pedro City, Laguna while 25-year-old Michael Bondoc was nabbed on January 24, 2023, at about 8:20 PM in Punta Verde, Angeles City, Pampanga.
Both suspects were arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest (WOA) for Criminal Case No. 46264-R issued by Hon. Rufus G Malecdan Jr., Presiding Judge, RTC BR 60, Baguio City for Violations of Art 315 (Swindling/Estafa) in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) with a recommended bail of One Hundred Twenty Thousand (Php 120,000.00) pesos each.
Based on the statement of the 23-year-old victim, he was searching for a condominium to lease at a certain website where he met “Brenda Maxwell” who offered him a condominium located in Taguig City. To finalize the deal, a fund transfer was made online via GCASH and Union Bank worth seventy-one thousand five hundred (Php 71,500.00) pesos. After the fund transfer was made, the suspects blocked the victim.
Suspect Bondoc is currently detained in Baguio City Jail while Sierda was able to post bail for her temporary liberty.
