A Caloocan City local was arrested Monday night, August 22, 2016 at Queensland Hotel, Pasay City after an entrapment operation led by PSUPT MA. IVY P CASTILLO of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.

Andrew Galang Simbillo is now facing charges of violations of Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery with intimidation/Sextortion), RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act), and RA 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act) committed by, through and with the use of Information and Communications Technologies under Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act).

The victim, a resident of Bacoor Cavite complained Simbillo after threats of publishing their explicit videos online and to the social media accounts of her family, relatives, and friends. Investigation disclosed that the suspect messaged the victim on Facebook and offered her a modelling job to star in a pornographic movie that grosses Php 100,000 per film. Accordingly, the two met for the “audition” and the victim was lured to engage in compromising poses and acts.

Online recruitment of models is now one of the increasing modalities used by cyber criminals to extort money and sexual favors to college students and minors. The Internet has given criminals a large turf to pursue their evil activities under the blanket of anonymity. Thus, the PNP ACG under the leadership of PSSUPT RECZON TITO T ACABADO asks the public to never trust strangers in the Internet and to increase their awareness on cyber safety to protect themselves from online predators.
